Stéfane Fermigier — principal investigator¶
Stéfane Fermigier holds a PhD in mathematics and is adjunct professor (professeur associé) of open-source software at Université Paris Cité. He is the founder and CEO of Abilian, a French open-source software company, and has spent three decades building and organizing the European open-source industry: he founded Nuxeo, co-founded and co-chairs the CNLL (the French open-source business association), and is the lead author of the Technical Building Blocks framework for a European Open Internet Stack (submitted to NGI Commons, 2025).
At the Econ Lab he leads the digital-sovereignty research programme: its measurement apparatus (the dependency graph, the cloud-services matrix), its theory (cuts and options, the channels taxonomy), and its mechanism-design arm (screening, exit pricing, layered-market models).
